A joint SAR (Search and Rescue) team successfully evacuated a Mercedes-Benz luxury car that was discovered among the rubble of the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes Al Khoziny) in Buduran, Sidoarjo, East Java.

The vehicle was found severely damaged and crushed beneath collapsed concrete columns in the A3 or A4 sector of the incident site. The evacuation was carried out using heavy machinery, including an excavator, to lift the wreckage from the debris.

As of now, no official statement has been released regarding the identity of the vehicle’s owner or its license plate number. However, initial reports suggest that the car may have belonged to one of the boarding school’s caretakers, as it had been parked between the main building and the caretaker’s residence prior to the collapse.

Nanang Sigit, Head of the Surabaya Class A SAR Office and acting On Scene Coordinator (OSC), emphasized that the team’s primary focus remains on rescuing human victims, not on recovering vehicles.

“We’re not commenting on the car evacuation. Our focus is entirely on searching for and rescuing human victims,” said Nanang firmly.

Rescue and recovery operations at the Al Khoziny boarding school site are still ongoing, with the top priority being the search for victims who are believed to still be trapped under the building debris.
