Iwak Wader, a Rare Culinary Typical of Mojokerto

One of them is Iwak Wader's culinary with cobek sauce, in the historical tourist area of Trowulan in Mojokerto, East Java. There is a special sensation when enjoying culinary with a long history.



Iwak wader has been known since the Majapahit era. Iwak Wader Trowulan Segaran has a distinctive taste and different spice recipes.

The strength of the taste is in the spicy and fresh chili sauce. Sambal is freshly made when there is an order. The chili seasoning is in the form of chili, tomato, red onion, white, and lime that is mashed without the need for frying.

The fresh chili sauce will be served with Wader fish which is deep-fried and comes with fresh vegetables. The small wader fish is seasoned with spices and turmeric and then deep-fried until they have a crunchy texture.



The small fish the size of a little finger are sprinkled on a small earthen plate (cowek) with the sambal. As fresh vegetables, including cucumber slices, basil leaves, and cabbage.

When visiting Trowulan, apart from being able to see the archaeological sites of the Majapahit era by looking at the existing buildings and temples, we also tasted the typical food of Trowulan that already existed during the Majapahit kingdom so that it brought us to the atmosphere of life at that time.
