Good News! BPJS Health Contribution Debts May Be Written Off by the End of 2025

Holiday Ayo -

The Indonesian government is set to launch a debt relief program for overdue BPJS Health (national health insurance) contributions by the end of 2025, offering financial relief to millions of citizens struggling to meet their payment obligations.

The initiative aims to ease the burden on low-income participants who have been unable to pay their premiums due to economic hardship.

The announcement was made by Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) following a limited cabinet meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday (November 4, 2025).

“The write-off of BPJS Health contribution arrears will be implemented through a re-registration mechanism, allowing participants to reactivate their membership,” Cak Imin stated.

However, he emphasized that not all participants will automatically qualify for the debt cancellation. The government will establish specific eligibility criteria to ensure the program remains targeted and prevents potential misuse.
