Fairy Pools, the Famous Swimming Spot that Might Have Fairies Inside

Holiday Ayo - Well, by looking at the title you might start to wonder about actual fairies in a pool.

Many people enquire about any local legends associated with the pools and the surprising answer is that there are none.

Even the origin of the name remains a mystery and we can only assume that the pools were so-called due to their magical appearance … Or perhaps someone once spotted the fairies taking a dip here.

But despite that, the Fairy Pools is actually quite famous for its natural beauty, the amazing waterfall, and its surroundings.

Some of the pools make great swimming spots, but rarely get warm (a wetsuit is a good option).

This first waterfall is the highest fall and deepest pool.

And even though water temperatures are always chilly—approximately 11 °C, the best time to blend with nature is late autumn.

At this time the bathing site is particularly eye-pleasing ornate with the natural decorations of lush marsh grass and splendid bracken foliage.

While the Isle Skye is indeed a beautiful place, Scotland is so much more than this distant island. ...

Surely, the Fairy Pools alone have made you choose the Isle of Skye for your holiday. Time for a reality check… Skye is beautiful – there is no denying it – and it's definitely worth a visit.

You can drive around the island in half a day without stopping. But because there's so much to see, I recommend spending at least 2 full days on the Isle of Skye. Plus you should schedule an additional half-day to drive up from Fort William, and another half day to get back.

But please, if you do not like large crowds then we do not recommend you to go here because there are lots of people that have also come to take a dip or splash in the pool.
