Tamborasi River, the Shortest River Lies in Indonesia

Holiday Ayo - When discussing the natural beauty that exists in Indonesia, of course, there will be no end. This can be seen from the many natural sceneries that captivate the heart when you visit it.

One of the natural beauties that you can meet when visiting Southeast Sulawesi is the Tamborasi river.

The Nile River in Africa is the longest river in the world, then where is the shortest?

Yep, Indonesia.

It is the Tamborasi River, which is located in Tamboraso Village, Wolo District, Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province. It is only 20 meters long, 15 meters wide.

If you look at it, Tamborasi doesn't look like a river, but rather it is more suitable to be called a lake. With clear green water, upstream and downstream are in the same place.

The river springs from the rock cliffs perpendicular to the grove of trees. From between the cliffs, fresh water comes out which produces clear turquoise green water upstream.

So clear, the rocks at the bottom of the river as deep as 5 meters are clearly visible. The water temperature is cold and turns warm as it approaches the estuary in the Flores Sea.

Only a few meters from the river lies a clean white sandy beach called Tamborasi Beach. This beach is like a separator between the flow of the Tamborasi River and the seawater of Bone Bay.

Because they are directly facing the ocean, tourists will not only enjoy the river with its freshwater but visitors will also be presented with the beautiful Tamborasi beach wrapped in soft white sand.

On weekends, this location is visited by many residents to swim. The manager rents out dozens of inner tubes tied with yellow ropes to visitors for river-tubing.

Not just swimming, visitors can also relax in a number of gazebos that have been built by the manager.

There is also a myth that if visitors can tie a rope to the roots of a tree on the edge of the river, it is believed that a match will come soon or the relationship with your partner will improve.

How to Get There

The Tamborasi River can be reached by road as far as 80 kilometers for two hours from the capital to the north, through a smooth paved provincial highway on the Ranteangin-Kolaka section.

If from Kendari, the trip to the Tamborasi River can be reached by land travel as far as nearly 300 km for four hours.
