Bandung Man Arrested by Indonesian Cyber Police After Hacking UK Crypto Platform, Stealing Rp6.67 Billion
The Cyber Crime Directorate (Dittipidsiber) of the Indonesian National Police (Bareskrim Polri) has arrested a man identified as HS, a Bandung resident, for allegedly breaching the international cryptocurrency trading platform markets.com, based in London, United Kingdom. The suspect reportedly siphoned off funds totaling Rp6.67 billion.
Deputy Director of the Cyber Crime Unit, Commissioner Andri Sudarmadi, explained that HS exploited a vulnerability within the platform’s security system. The suspect discovered an anomaly in the input field for transaction amounts, then created four fictitious accounts to execute the scheme.
“The perpetrator exploited a system weakness, allowing the nominal USD amount entered into the deposit field to be automatically accepted by the platform according to the number input,” Andri stated during a press conference on Thursday (November 20, 2025), quoting Detik.com.
As a result of the breach, the company under Vialto International United suffered a financial loss of Rp6,673,440,000.
Investigators traced the flow of funds and identified the owners of the fraudulent accounts, leading to HS’s arrest on Saturday (November 15, 2025). Based on police examination, the suspect worked as a distributor of computer accessories and equipment and has been involved in the cryptocurrency industry since 2017—knowledge that allegedly enabled him to exploit the system loophole.
