Bye-Bye Thrifting! Government Prepares Regulation to Halt Secondhand Clothing Sales
Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Menkomdigi), Meutya Hafid, has expressed her support for the government’s plan to ban the sale of secondhand clothing through social media platforms.
Meutya emphasized that all policies implemented by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs will align with the broader regulations and directives established by the national government.
Regarding the mechanism for enforcing the ban on thrifting activities on social media, Meutya explained that further discussions will take place, including the development of a monitoring system within digital platforms and the step-by-step technical implementation.
